A few weeks ago, Jana and I changed our nutrition to loose some kilos that are not necessary. I almost lost 6 kg and Jana 3,2. So it does work and we keep working on it. But some days a week we eat whatever we want because otherwise we wouldn’t be able to survive that.
I wanted to surprise Jana with a meal and since I know that she likes fried chicken (KFC-style) I wanted to make some. It ended in preparing a buttermilk chicken, which had to be marinated in buttermilk around 2-3 hours to become tender before being covered with herb flour and taking a bath in oil.
Sounds great, doesn’t it? Which side dish you use is up to you. It could be coleslaw, fries or like we did, you make burger buns and add some roasted potatoes.

- 400g chicken without bones
- 500ml buttermilk
- 1-2 tsp sriracha Sauce
- 150g flour
- 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried cilantro
- 1 tsp dried herbs
- 1 tsp onion powder
- salt and pepper
- oil to fry everything

- Cut the chicken in larger pieces and put them in a bowl. Now add the buttermilk and sriracha, stir it and let it rest for 2-3 hours ( or over night).
- Take out the chicken and let it drain. Put the flour in a bowl, add the herbs and stir before turning the chicken in it. There has to be flour everywhere around the chicken.
- Heat up a pot with a lot of oil until it is about 175°C (350°F). Now fry the chicken for 10-12 minutes, depending on how large the pieces are. Let them drain on a piece of kitchen paper and enjoy it.
